The Religion of Power

The previous essay examined power from the perspective that men pursued power to satisfy a desire for power itself.  Men love the feeling of power, and pursuit of this feeling is a drug in the sense that it alters neurochemistry.  This drug produces a pleasure inducing neurological response, which motivates men to establish ever-greater control over others.  As with all drugs, abuse ends with devastating the life of the addict and those around him.  Just like other addictive drugs, power produces a complex mixture of motivators including anesthesia, reduction of conscience, and induction of euphoria.  As with other drugs of abuse, men ignore the negative side effects, and increase its dosage to obtain or maintain the high, the pleasure, and the altered sensorium.

In this essay we shall examine the theory that men use power as a tool to achieve an end, not as an end in itself.  This religion has no name, no formal creed, no high priest, no public worship, and no edifice for gathering, and no transcendent meaning.  Nevertheless, the passionate pursuit of its ends brings to mind the zeal of religion.  The belief may be, “That a maximized pleasure and minimized pain will arise from a world with all men acting in perfect coordination.”   Other tenets of the religion include: 1) The belief in the ability of men to perfect themselves by forming a perfect social order, 2) The belief in the error of letting men pursue various individual beliefs, 3) The lack of transcendent meaning to life, 4) Rebellion against the Judeo-Christian worldview, with its absolutes of God and moral directives, and 5) A belief in the secular humanist religion of man.

The zeal of the dictator, the autocrat, the tyrant, the authoritarian begs for an explanation.  And, the positing of religious motivation is reasonable given that religion has a level of faith within it that desires to impose, proselytize, or convert others to the same belief and practice.  This motivation of those who seek to control the world stage and shape the world to act and govern itself in a socialist / communist / utopian manner, appears to mimic the passion of religious faith.

The religion appears to believe:

The various religions of the world should be viewed as superstitions

Man is the measure of all things

The earth is alive, and all creatures are of equal value in relationship to the creation

Man has no special rights, and should be prohibited from eating animals.

All behaviors are acceptable as long as they do not hurt others, or there is mutual consent.

Men function best when each person functions in a specialization according to his talent.

Men function best as a group when coordinated from a central authority.

Resources are limited, and there are too many people for the resources of the planet.

Evidence of a cabal, a group of people coordinating an attempting to govern the world and impose their ideology and organizational structure upon it:

The secret societies: Bilderbergers, Illuminati, The British Crown, Skull & Bones, Free Masons, Trilateral Commission, CFR, The United Nations, etc.

Tyrants, authoritarians, dictators throughout the ages with the desire to control the world: Caesar’s Rome, The Holy Roman Empire, The 3rd Reich, Militant Islam...

The purpose of this essay is not to give credibility to, nor examine any particular conspiracy theory, the point being that men throughout history have been strongly motivated by the desire to bring the world under domination for the purpose of personal power, or manifesting a metaphysical ideology.  The spirit of Secular Humanism would be a name we could give to this potpourri of goals and visions for life.  Ultimately we are motivated by pleasure, and averse to pain.  And, for those who do not believe in an eternal soul, the motivation for immortality manifests instead in the desire to make a name, or to influence the world’s social evolution for the better.

We see in the Marxist philosophy a drive that can be best understood in terms of its faith in the tenets of class struggle and revolution.  But, the Secular Humanist religions have many denominations.  These may include:

Socialism, Democratic Socialism

Communism, Marxism

Liberalism (in its modern meaning), Progressivism

There appear to be front men, philosophers, and puppet masters.  Some of these may include:

George Soros, The Rockefellers

Interlocking corporate directorates,  The Military Industrial Complex

Government-Medical complex, Big Pharma

The European Banking Cartel, The Federal Reserve...

The post modern philosophers, Derrida, Nietzsche...

There likewise appears to be the special interest groups, foot soldiers, and masses that contribute their heart and soul to manifesting their particular piece of the Secular Humanist  agenda.  These groups include:

The Homosexual groups, GLBT, Homosexual marriage advocates, NAMBLA...

The Environmentalists, Greens, Save the Earth groups

Abortion advocates, NARAL, Planned Parenthood

Animal Rights, PETA...

Human Rights advocates, anti-torture, anti-war groups

Social Injustice: wealth redistribution, affirmative action, minimum wages, unions, universal government healthcare,

This complex web of special interest groups may not have an leader, a shadow directorate, nor a coordinated plan, but they may all be guided by the same unseen unholy spirit.  And, while none of the individuals in the group may want to create a hell on earth as their conscious intent, the efforts of the individual and group may be unconscious participants in a web of effect directed by an unseen spirit.

Those who are in titular positions of authority can exert ordinary human power to manifest their particular religious passion.  But, the same spirit to manifest a vaguely formulated utopian dream is nevertheless operating throughout every member of the body, as it does in the workings of the various groups.

In summary, the point of the examination is to arrive at a viscerally satisfying sense of the forces that operate in our world to socialize and homogenize us.  We see all around us evidence of the manipulation of the minds of the masses to follow with Pavlovian automaticity the messages of consumption and programming to follow the leaders and policies of the Right and Left.  The question is, “Who is behind these broad social movements?”  Is there a cabal or human force moving men?  Is there a spiritual force that speaks to men’s hearts and minds causing them to move at the spirit’s will?, or are we simply watching the natural behavior of a self-organizing system populated by individual entities following their own rules of survival?

My theory is that the spiritual realm is in competition for the mind of man, and both the spirit of God, and the demonic realm, seek to enroll men’s minds in their service.  Thus, what may appear to be the random movements of men, or the passions of leaders to control for their addictive or ideological ends, may actually be men moving to the will of an unseen spiritual force.  Some may be more aware of its influence than others.  Some on both sides are probably being fully aware of the spiritual polarity they serve, and others are pawns in the most uninformed sense.

If this is true, that there is something higher, good and lovely, eternal and intended for God to create, then we as humans should do our best to organize around that highest and most Godly goal to manifest that outcome.  And yes, we must use the tools of leadership, education, groups, philosophies, reason, emotion, psychology, and religion to move the minds and hearts of men to manifest the Kingdom of God, on Earth, as it is in Heaven.

Being committed to win, and believing our goal is right, it feels natural to condemn the other side for their effort, indoctrination, and leadership in enrolling followers for their purpose.  But, for those working to create God’s Kingdom on Earth, we must ignore the epithets and implied defamation in their cries of theocracy, discrimination, and exclusion.  It is right that God’s law rule on Earth.  It is right to discriminate against evil and exclude its practitioners and its principles from participation and influence in the public square and in the heart.
